“The opposite of addiction isn’t sobriety- it’s connection.”
What is VICTOR?!
The challenges faced by Veterans struggling with opioid use disorder (OUD) are deeply concerning. Between 2010 and 2019, drug overdose mortality rates among Veterans surged by 53%, and suicide rates remain twice as high as those in the general population. These alarming statistics highlight an urgent need for innovative recovery solutions.
At VICTOR, we believe that connection is key to recovery. Extensive research shows that strong social ties can reduce the risk of substance misuse, depression, and suicidal thoughts. That’s why VICTOR is dedicated to empowering Veterans in East Tennessee by fostering meaningful connections that support long-term recovery.
Through engaging, community-driven activities, VICTOR helps Veterans rediscover purpose and build a supportive network. Our events include:
Fly fishing
Pickleball
NASCAR events
Hiking and nature walks
Bowling
Music therapy and other therapeutic experiences
To make participation simple, VICTOR provides a centralized hub of events, available both online and through a mobile app, ensuring Veterans can easily access affordable, local resources that enhance their recovery journey.
At its core, VICTOR is about bringing Veterans together- helping them reconnect, heal, and thrive. By fostering strong social bonds and shared experiences, we strive to improve the lives of Veterans in East Tennessee and create a lasting impact on their recovery.
